Hi all. This post is about Lenovo R61i and Fedora 8 installed on.
My Lenovo have

• core2duo T5250 processor
• 2GB ddr2 667MHz
• intel x3100
• 120GB hdd
• intel 3945 wifi
• broadcom netXtreme 1gbps ethernet adapter
• bluetooth (broadcom)
• Lenovo UltraNav (trackpoint and touchpad)
• DVD burner (Matsushita)
• ThinkLight
• Intel HD audio soundcard (Analog Devices chip)
• IEEE 1394 firewire

So, what was working, or what wasn’t working:

• Soundcard- I can’t remember very well, but everything, what I had to do is using PulseAudio instead of ALSA
• Graphics- Everything works out-of-the-box
• WiFi- Works, but kill radio switch kills the radio, and after that you have to run “ifconfig wlan0 up”
• Bluetooth- like WiFi, but “echo enable > /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth”
• ThinkLight- works out-of-the-box
• DVD- Out-of-the-box
• UltraNav- out-of-the-box
• FireWire- out-of-the-box
• USB- left port works perfectly, but those 2 on the right after some time changes from hotplug to coldplug- add irqpoll kernel argument to /boot/grub/menu.lst
• Ethernet- works out-of-the-box
• PS/2 port- Looks strange, or I have wrong USB->PS/2 switch, but it looks like mini-din connection (not vetrical “tooth”, but horizontal like TV-out in video cards)
• VGA output- connect device and restart X or xrandr –output VGA –mode 1024×768
• Keyboard shortcuts- I had to write some bash scripts and xbindkeys, so-

Hibertnating works perfectly
Suspend to RAM too.

Witam wszystkich po kolejnej przerwie. Dzisiaj przedstawie troche obejsc problemow pojawiajacych sie w lapku

• Problematyczne intel pro/wireless 3945- po pewnym czasie gubi wifi, nie znajduje zadnej sieci a jak znajdzie to nie dziala dhcp. Nie pomaga radio switch na obudowie, rmmod i modprobe. Najlepiej uspac lapka i wybudzic. bedzie banglac.
• Brak podswietlania matrycy po wybudzeniu. Przelaczyc sie na konsole i z powrotem na iksy (CTRL + ALT +F[1-5] CTRL+ALT+F7)
• Karta dzwiekowa- nie ma sprzetowego miksera. trzeba uzyc programowego miksera (alsowe urzadzenie dmix, albo latwiej- przez pulseaudio)
• Prawe porty usb nie rozpoznaja urzadzenia. Po starcie maszyny odpalcie sobie pusty terminal. Po jakims czasie zobaczycie wiadomosc od sysloga

  To oznacza ze od tej chwilii nie ma hotpluga na usb. system nie zobaczy zadnych zmian w USB na portach z prawej. Workaround w toku

Witam wszystkich po troche dluzszej przerwie, tym razem na nowej maszynie zanabylem sobie Lenovo R61i w promocji w Saturnie- a zatem czas na pare spotrzezen

• Ekran- rozdzialka 1024×768 to jednak troche przymalo jak na dzisiejsze czasy, ale nie ma tragedii
• Procesor- core2duo T5250 to calkiem niezla baza pod calkiem przyzwoitego laptopa. potrafi byc szybki, a jednoczesnie malo sie grzeje
• Bateria- na sciemnionym ekranie, pod linuksem, audacious, vim i compiz= 4:15h czasu pracy
• Dysk twardy- jest cichy i malo sie grzeje, ale moje samsungi w domowym sa szybsze
• WiFi- przelacznikiem w laptopie wylaczymy bluetootha i wifi. Ale ich nie wlaczymy (czasem sie zdarza, ze wifi sie podniesie). Po wifi trzeba sie fatygowac do windowsa, BT wlaczymy przez /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth
• Karta dzwiekowa- pieronstwo ladnie gra, ale pod linuksem dziala lipnie- najpierw mialem dzwiek tylko jako root, a teraz zeby uzywac kilku programow naraz to trzeba sie bawic z pulseaudio, gdyz karta nie ma sprzetowego miksera

Fedora na tym dziala bardzo fajnie, nie ma problemow wiekszych z hibernacja (poza zapchaniem sie sinka pulseaudio, wystarczy sie przelogowac)
